BYNG — For the second time in two days, Bethel’s boys dropped a heartbreaker at the Byng Winter Classic.

Byng hit two tying free throws with less than a second left in regulation, then outscored the Wildcats 11-6 in overtime for a 69-64 victory.

Up 58-56, Bethel surrendered two offensive rebounds before Byng hit the two charity tosses.

“We have to win those type of games,” Bethel coach Bryan Jennings said. “The difference was just two or three plays. If we get one of those rebounds, we win the game.”

Sophomore Jaylon Gordon ripped Byng for a game-high 28 points, including three 3-point field goals. Gordon scored all six of Bethel’s OT points.

Wildcat Anthony Franklin canned four treys for 12 points. Ben Pfeiff added nine points.

Bethel fell to Broken Bow 75-73 in Thursday’s first round.

The Wildcats (6-4) will tackle Friday’s loser between Okemah-Madill at 11:30 a.m. today to conclude their Classic stay.
