PAULS VALLEY — Shemmario Stephens netted 23 points Friday as Seminole whipped Southeast 68-59 Friday night to earn a spot in next week’s area tournament.

Kason Clark Adam Nance and Dayton Jackson had 10 points each for Seminole (19-4). Clark had two 3-point field goals and Nance pulled down 9 rebounds in the regional encounter.

Seminole will play for the regional championship at 8 p.m. Monday versus Broken Bow at Bethel High School.


An 11-point difference at the charity stripe was too much for Seminole’s girls to overcome as they lost 38-36 to Southeast Friday in a Class 4A regional elimination game.

Seminole was 0 of 4 from the line while Southeast was 11 of 21.

Abbey Carter, Seminole’s leading scorer with 13, drained three shots from 3-point range. Hayden Harjo posted two treys among her 10 points.

Southeast snapped a 36-36 tie with a close-range field goal inside of the 20-second . Seminole then turned the ball over with 9 seconds left.

Seniors Aubrey Kotchavar, Destiny Tiger and Jo Tiger concluded their Seminole basketball careers.

“Obviously, we would have liked to win more than three games, but we were in every game,” Seminole coach Pam Fletcher said. “We probably lost 10 games of 5 points or under.”
