HENRYETTA — The fourth time proved to be the charm for Chandler.

The Lady Lions, 0-3 against Meeker during the regular season, turned back the Lady Bulldogs 37-27 Monday afternoon in a Class 3A regional elimination matchup.

Chandler scored the game’s first 11 points and led 25-13 at the half en route to earning a berth in Thursday’s area tournament at Tulsa Will Rogers. Chandler will oppose either Holland Hall or Sequoyah-Tahlequah.

Meeker ends the year at 13-14.

“We struggled early shooting against their zone and they had five of their six 3-pointers in the first half,” Meeker coach Clay Plunk said. “They scored all 11 of their first-quarter points in about the first four minutes.”

Jaelyn Wayland of Chandler, the game’s top scorer with 10, knocked down three 3-point field goals. Josie Patterson, Lauren Masquat and Morgan Fowble of Chandler hit one trey apiece.

Emily Trevino, Meeker’s leading scorer with 8, posted two treys. Aubrey Pruitt notched 6 points.

Concluding their Meeker basketball careers were seniors Ashley VanSchuyver, Mallory Chapman and Trevino.

“If we had come out early and made some shots, it might have made a difference,” Plunk said. “I think we got a little tight. We got within about six points with two minutes left. I am very proud of our seniors.”
Hannah Anderson and Josie Patterson netted 7 points each for Chandler.
