SHAWNEE – The Shawnee girls tennis team took first place at home in the Suburban Conference tournament Monday. The boys placed second in their portion of the tournament.

Rose Templeton took first in No. 2 singles and Lyla Boutdara took fourth in the No. 1 spot.

Templeton beat Piedmont's Lizzy Layman 6-3, 6-1 to start the day and followed up with wins over Carl Albert's Charli Shelton (6-0, 6-0) and Carl Albert's Courtney Toney, 6-1, 6-1.

Karsyn Reed and Kenzie Yort beat Carl Albert 6-2, 6-0 and Guthrie 6-4, 6-3 to take first in No. 1 doubles.

Kayla Garza and Hayden Powell took first in No. 2 doubles after beating Carl Albert 6-2, 6-1 and Piedmont 6-3, 6-1.

The girls placed 10th out of 16 teams at the Ada Invitational Saturday where Templeton and Bryce Warren took fifth in No. 2 doubles after winning three of their four matches.

The Lady Wolves will host the Shawnee Invitational Friday at Shawnee High School.


No. 1 doubles team Brennan Roark and Zach Young and No. 2 squad Aidan Grein and Will Jordan each placed second to give the Wolves a boost in their second-place team finish.

Cody Parman placed third in No. 1 singles and Luke Presley took third in No. 2 singles. Logan Clayton also posted a win.

The boys will play in the Shawnee Invitational Friday.
