SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist split a pair of Great American Conference softball games with No. 18 Harding Saturday, run-ruling HU in the opener 8-0 and falling 7-5 in eight innings in the finale.

The teams split the series 2-2.

The Lady Bison scored one in the first inning of the opener when Dani Manning homered to left.

OBU added three in the second. Katie Long doubled and scored on an RBI single by Cricket Grabin. Manning doubled home Grabin and scored when Katie Reyes got involved in a first-and-third rundown.

Cheyenne Demaree homered to start a three-run third. Bry Flanagan and Shelby Savage singled and both scored on a base hit by Aspen Grimes.

OBU ended the game on the mercy rule in the bottom of the fifth as Savage singled, moved to second on a sacrifice by Long and scored on a single by Grimes.

Long (4-2) went the distance in the circle, striking out three and limiting HU to four hits.

OBU had 13 hits, led by Reyes with three and two each by Manning, Savage and Grimes.

The Lady Bison trailed 4-0 going to the bottom of the fifth inning of the second game.

OBU scored three in the fifth with two outs. Hope Mathis singled and Manning walked to load the bases. Reyes was hit by a pitch and Flanagan singled in a pair of runs to make it 4-3.

Harding added a run in the seventh for a 5-3 lead but OBU got two in the home half. Grimes, Grabin and Manning singled to load the bases. Reyes and Flanagan followed with sacrifice flies to tie the game but couldn't cash in the game-winner from second.

Harding added two in the top of the eighth and OBU loaded the bases with two outs, but could not get the big hit.

Amanda Peterson took the loss in relief.

The Lady Bison collected 11 hits with Flanagan, Long, Grimes and Grabin getting two apiece.

OBU is 9-15 overall and 6-10 in the GAC. The Lady Bison play at Arkansas Tech next weekend with doubleheaders at 3 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday.
