ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – (Round One Results) Following the opening round of play Monday, Oklahoma Baptist owns third place at the 2018 Holiday Inn Express MWSU Women's Spring Invitational, hosted by Missouri Western State at St. Joseph Country Club.
The Lady Bison shot 331 as a team in the first round and are two strokes ahead of Truman State and Missouri Western State tied for fourth place. William Woods leads the field after a 321 team finish. Katie Warren of William Woods has the individual lead at one-over 73.
Michelle Carr sits in fourth place after a seven-over 79 in the first round. She was one of four players to shoot a sub-80 round Monday. Elly Baze is tied for 13th place following an opening round 82 and Sydney Bowman is tied for 20th at 84. Shannen Stewart carded an 86 and Shelby Phillips shot 90 on the first day of the event.
Play will wrap up with a final round of 18 holes Tuesday at St. Joseph Country Club. A shotgun tee time is set for 10:30 a.m.
Bison Golf Sixth at Broncho Invitational
EDMOND, Okla. – (Round One Results) Oklahoma Baptist men's golf sits in sixth place Monday after a shortened first day at the Broncho Invitational, hosted by Central Oklahoma.
Play was limited to only 18 holes at Oak Tree Country Club instead of the scheduled 36 due to cold temperatures and winds gusting to over 30 miles per hour. The Bison shot 319 as a team on the East Course, and are only six strokes back from second place Arkansas Tech. Central Oklahoma leads the team standings following an opening round 300. UCO's Alexander Hughes leads individually at one-under 69.
Dakota Clark paced the Bison with a 77 to open the tournament and is tied for 15th place. Dalton Rhoden shot 78 and is in a tie for 20th place, Payton Posada used 80 strokes, Hudson Hoover carded an 84 and Mason Nutt fired an 86 in the opening round of play.
Luke Garner entered the tournament as an individual and finished with a 91 Monday.
The Broncho Invitational will wrap up tomorrow with a final round of 18 holes.
