EDMOND – Shawnee trailed Deer Creek 6-4 after the top of the sixth but gave up a five-run rally in the bottom frame of an 11-4 loss at Deer Creek Friday.

Deer Creek extended their lead in the sixth with homers by Wade Elliott and Max Huffing, a balk and a passed ball.

Shawnee struck early but not often enough with two runs in the first on a bases loaded walk to Creed Killgore and an RBI single by Carson Payne. Deer Creek took their first lead in the bottom of the inning on a triple, double and single, each for one run, to go ahead 3-2 and never gave up the ghost.

The Antlers added three more in the bottom of the second. A double by Luis Villalobos drove in Cale Reed and Brandon Eropkin doubled to bring in Villalobos in the top of the third gave Shawnee their final two runs of the game.

Payne and Reed were each 3-4 for Shawnee to lead the bats. Scout Cawvey and Eropkin were each 2-4 and Kade Self was 2-3.

Elliott was 1-3 and drove in three runs to lead Deer Creek and Kaden Marshall brought home two runs.

Nick Bowlan started for the Wolves and was handed the loss after giving up six earned runs on nine hits in his two innings pitched. Morgan Lunceford threw for three innings in relief to strike out three, walk one and allwed one hit. Jay Easley started the sixth and gave up five runs on two hits and walked three and Killgore replaced him with two outs and walked two batters.

The win went to Piercen McElyea after giving up two runs on four hits in two innings pitched.

Shawnee (4-4) will be back in Edmond Saturday as they face off with Edmond Memorial at 1 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for a 2:30 start but was moved up, it was announced Friday.
