OKLAHOMA CITY — The Dale pitching trio of Drew Reed, Carson Hunt and Bryce Crawford combined for a seven-inning three-hitter as the Pirates blanked Christian Heritage 3-0 Tuesday.
Reed, the starter, went the first 2 2/3 innings. He gave up one hit, fanned four and didn’t issue a walk.
Hunt, employed the next three innings, didn’t surrender a hit and had a strikeout. Crawford closed out the game by giving up two hits, fanning one and walking one in 1 1/3 innings.
Scout Capps launched the scoring with an RBI groundout in the top of the first inning. Jono Johnson added some insurance with a two-run double to right field in he sixth.
“Our pitchers threw it pretty well,” Dale coach Jerry Sanford said. “We were trying to get ready for this weekend’s tournament.”
Dale, 11-5, will begin Roff Tournament play Thursday. The Pirates will take on the Coleman-Asher winner at 7 p.m. at Tushka.
The tournament runs through Saturday.
