ROFF—The Dale Pirates, on the strength of Gant Hathcock's bat, downed Tushka 9-1 Friday afternoon at the Roff Baseball Tournament.
Hathcock was a sizzling 3-for-3 with four runs batted in. He also added a home run into that mix.
The Pirates received a solid outing on the mound from Blake McQuain. McQuain pitched all five innings and gave up the single run on just two hits. He struck out two batters. For good measure, he added two run double to help his own cause.
Dale scored two runs in the bottom of the first and added three more in the second. They put the game away with a four-run rally in the fourth inning. McQuain then shut down Tushka in the top of the fifth to end the game early.
The Pirates improve to 13-5 on the year.
