MCALESTER — Shawnee combined six hits with 10 base on balls to knock off McAlester 9-5 Thursday at the McAlester Shootout.
The Wolves fell to Durant, 5-2, in their first game of the day.
Shawnee trailed McAlester 6-5 entering the top of the sixth inning but rolled up five runs to get the win.
Carson Payne posted Shawnee’s only extra-base hit with a double. Payne and Kade Self led the Wolves with two runs batted in. Austin Gonzalez and JT Johnson scored two runs apiece.
Payne started on the mound and went two innings, followed by Creed Kilgore for 2 1/3 innings and Jay Easley for 2 2/3 innings. Easley got the win after striking out six, walking one and holding McAlester hitless.
Durant 5, Shawnee 2
Shawnee, by virtue of single runs in the first two innings, took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth, but Durant scored five times and held on for the win.
Johnson was Shawnee’s only multiple hitter with two singles and also scored. Scout Cawvey scored the other Wolfpack run after singling.
Both Shawnee runs were unearned as Durant committed three errors.
Brandon Eropkin, Shawnee’s starter, was touched for four runs and five hits. He walked six.
Morgan Lunceford went the final three innings and didn’t allow a hit or run. He registered three strikeouts and walked one.
Shawnee will play Tulsa Kelley at 10 a.m. today followed by Collinsville at 3.
