PAULS VALLEY — Ben Lauck of Bethel fanned nine batters in a losing cause Friday as Pauls Valley registered an 8-5 win at the Purcell Tournament.

Lauck allowed eight runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked one.

Brendan Carlile permitted two hits and no runs in a 2/3-inning relief effort

Pauls Valley tallied five runs in the bottom of the first inning on a home run, several singles and a costly error. Bethel finished the game with three errors.

A two-run second inning gave Pauls Valley a 7-1 lead. Bethel got within 7-4 before Pauls Valley scored a single run in the sixth. Bethel added its final run in the seventh.

Bethel finished with three hits — doubles by Terrell Dodson and Jaylon Gordon and a two-run single by Cameron Egger.

Bailey Raines of Bethel drew two walks.

Pauls Valley recorded two home runs (first and sixth innings) and a double among its 10 hits. Pauls Valley posted five errors.
