OKTAHA — Top-ranked Oktaha ended Meeker’s Class 3A state tournament aspirations with an 8-2 victory Monday in regional tournament action.
Oktaha also defeated 16th-ranked Meeker 10-1 Saturday. Meeker had launched the double-elimination tournament — which was originally set to begin Thursday but ran afoul of the weather — with an 8-2 victory over Morris Saturday.
The Bulldogs finish the season at 22-11.
Matt Erwin of Oktaha drove in four runs Monday with a first-pitch, run-scoring single in the first inning and a three-run homer run in the fifth, giving the hosts a 6-0 lead. Oktaha’s Kobe Edgar had a two-run double in the second.
Meeker avoided a shutout in the seventh as Jacob Sellers and James Green drove in a run apiece.
Oktaha finished with 12 hits, including two doubles and two singles by Ty Meadors.
Jacob Martin had a double and single for Meeker, which finished with five hits.
Cade Patterson was the losing pitcher. Patterson surrendered eight runs, all earned, on 12 hits. He fanned three and walked four.
Earlier Monday, Meeker staved off elimination with a 10-0 win over Idabel. The Bulldogs combined eight hits with seven base on balls and three Idabel errors.
The game was stopped after six innings on the run rule.
Raceton Sedlacek earned the complete-game pitching victory with a four-hitter. Sedlacek fanned five and walked two while throwing 71 pitches, 40 for strikes.
Sedlacek also clubbed a two-run home run. Budgie Cameron posted a double and drove in two runs.
Johnny Jones scored twice and stole a base.
