'Bachelorette' Hannah Brown, Tyler Cameron face off in People's Choice Award race
Brown, now a "Dancing With the Stars" contestant, was awarded the trophy for Competition Contestant of 2019. She was up against a slew of other celebrities, including the "Bachelor" who rejected her the previous season, Colton Underwood, and the man during her season who she deemed her second choice, Tyler Cameron.
"Well this is weird," she said while she accepted the award. "Thank you all so much. This award means a lot to me because it just affirms it's OK to vulnerable and put your heart out there."
Brown spoke to E! host Jason Kennedy on the red carpet ahead of the awards ceremony about what it's like running into fans.
"They think I'm their friend. ... Everything that I've shown on TV has not been fabricated or me trying to adjust myself and so they do know me, and I love when I hear that."
She joked fans often stop her in the bathroom, but she'd prefer they didn't crawl under the stall or knock on the door while she's in there to say hi.
Brown wants to be on "Dancing With the Stars" until the end, though she notes it's physically and emotionally taxing.
"Nobody understands I think the caliber of pressure that you can kind of be under," not just due to everyone watching but because of how bad you want to win when you've invested so much into it, she added.
Both Brown and Cameron have been the subject of celebrity gossip since the show wrapped back in May. Brown cheekily asked Cameron out on a date during the season finale. Cameron has also been linked to model Gigi Hadid and has become known for his robust Instagram presence.
Cameron seemed to wish Brown luck in the category in a tweet referencing Alabama Crimson Tide's loss against the LSU Tigers on Saturday. Cameron wrote on Twitter: "Bama couldn’t get it done today. Hopefully Hannah does tomorrow. The state needs it!" Brown has encouraged fans to vote for her.
