Pete Davidson laughs off Ariana Grande split: 'Does anybody have any open rooms?'
Pete Davidson is facing his broken engagement to Ariana Grande head-on.
The "Saturday Night Live" star mined his love life for fodder for the comedy show Judd & Pete for America on Saturday, marking his first stage appearance since their split. The comedy show, which he co-hosted with Judd Apatow, was a benefit for Swing Left.
"Well, as you could tell, I don't want to be here," Davidson, 24, told the crowd at Largo at the Coronet in West Hollywood, without mentioning Grande's name, according to E! News. "There's a lot going on."
Just last weekend, news broke that Davidson and Grande's whirlwind romance and hasty engagement had ended in a matter of months. Davidson, who lived with Grande in her multimillion-dollar Manhattan apartment, joked about needing a new place.
"Does anybody have any open rooms?" he said in an excerpt obtained by E! News. "Looking for a roommate?"
He also touched on his permanent ink that outlived his relationship to Grande, including a tattoo behind his ear that's inspired by the pop star.
"Um, I've been covering a bunch of tattoos, that's fun," Davidson said. "I'm (expletive) 0 for 2 in the tattoo (department). Yeah, I'm afraid to get my mom tattooed on me, that's how bad it is."
He continued: "So, obviously, you know ... we broke up or whatever, but when me and (Grande) first got engaged, we got tattoos. And it was in a magazine like, 'Was Pete Davidson stupid?' And 93 percent said yes. So my boy, he was like, 'Don't listen to that (expletive) man.' ... And the other day we were in my kitchen and he was like, 'Yo, bro. Turns out you were stupid.' "
Apatow gave Davidson props for not canceling on the comedy show, to which the "SNL" cast member replied: "Well, you put me on the flyer, I had to. ... (Expletive) my feelings."
USA TODAY has reached out to Davidson's representative for details about the appearance.
"Time to say bye bye to the internet for just a lil bit," she said. "it's hard not to bump news n stuff that i'm not tryna to see rn. It's very sad and we're all tryin very hard to keep goin. Love u. And thank u for bein here always."
