Lincoln County becomes 'Second Amendment sanctuary'
Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty has joined a few other Oklahoma sheriffs by signing a formal declaration of intent establishing Lincoln County as a Second Amendment Sanctuary county.
In the declaration signed Feb. 19, Dougherty declares his intent to oppose “any and all infringements on the rights and liberties of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms using such legal means as may be expedient, including, without limitation, court action...”
Several states and counties nationwide have made similar resolutions and Logan County took the first action recently here in Oklahoma. Resolutions are intended to impede the enforcement of certain gun control measures that would violate the Second Amendment.
