Fundraising dinner, auction event set Saturday in Prague for Kari White, family
On Dec. 10, 2019, Kari White got her three children ready for school and left for work like any normal day.
By that night, Kari was being transported to Oklahoma Heart Hospital after suffering her first heart attack at the age of 35.
A healthy, active RN, wife and mom of three young children, she suffered another heart attack and coded.
Kari was later diagnosed with- SCAD - Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection. SCAD is a rare condition and mostly affects young women during pregnancy and shortly after delivery. It is also known to occur in male and female athletes after intense exercise. Most patients with SCAD do not have the normal risk factors for coronary artery disease. The symptoms of SCAD are the same as those felt during a heart attack. Women may be more prone to SCAD.
Kari is going to live to tell the story of what transpired over those next days and how she fought against every odd to make it home to her husband and children on Christmas Eve.
She will be in cardiac rehab and recovery for many weeks before she will be able to even discuss if and when she can return to work.
Kari has been receiving treatment and unfortunately has been hospitalized and even transported by helicopter a couple of times since her initial heart attack on Dec. 10, 2019.
A fundraising dinner will be held Saturday in Prague to bring awareness and to help Kari and her family.
Kari is an graduate of Prague High School and an RN at the Prague Community Hospital. She resides in Wewoka with her family.
The Indian Taco Benefit Dinner & Silent Auction will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 at the The Prague Community Center. Dinner Includes: Taco, dessert & drink for $8 (pay at door)
There will be silent auction items of various values, such as African Safari Hunt in South Africa valued at over $10,500, many overnight packages and getaways, home and outdoor furnishings. apparel and accessories and more.
