Meeker crushes Prue on 16 hits

MEEKER — Meeker accumulated 16 hits in just two innings while riddling Prue 15-0 Tuesday.

Halle Calvillo cranked out a grandslam home run. Also homering were Isabella Saavedra and Madison Hedge.

Caitlyn Alford and Kacee Babek doubled for Meeker.

Collecting two hits apiece were Lexi Lopez, Madison Hedge, Madison Gabeau, Icle Brewer, Babek and Alford.

Katy Buxton and Saavedra drove in three runs apiece.

Meeker, 2-0, is scheduled to host Wellston at 4:30 Thursday, then be idle until a March 23 home conflict versus Mustang.

Chandler bats erupt in season openers

OKLAHOMA CITY — Chandler launched its 2020 campaign Tuesday with a road sweep of Putnam City North, 10-2 and 15-2.

In the five-inning opener, Chandler combined 12 hits with three walks. Morgan Fowble led the way at 3-for-4, including a double. Bryanna Clark also doubled. Clark joined Grace Hulsey, Mallory Lowery and Julian Fowler with two runs batted in each.

Kelsey Williams stroked two singles, as did Lowery.

In the four-inning nightcap, Chandler received home runs from Jaelynn Robertson, Williams and Clark to lead a nine-hit attack.

Robertson also doubled, as did Bailey Bigbey. Bigbey, who like Robertson posted two hits, scored three times. Cashia Herber walked three times and scored three runs.

Chandler will play two games Thursday at the Big Cat Classic in Moore. The Lions will meet Mustang at 1 p.m. and Moore at 2:30.

Seminole slams Okmulgee to successfully open season

OKMULGEE – Addison Hill cranked out a pair of homers while Callie Sherfield and Sienna Deatherage also went deep one time apiece as the Seminole Lady Chieftains slammed Okmulgee, 16-4, in five innings Tuesday to open the spring slow pitch season.

Hill finished 3-for-3 from the plate with five runs batted in as she also scored three times.

Four other Seminole players collected two hits each as the team compiled 14. Deatherage ended up 2-for-3 with four a homer, double, four RBIs, three runs scored and a walk. Kaitlyn Mathews went 2-for-4 with a a double, one RBI and a run scored and Levi Ary finished 2-for-4 as well with a double and one run scored. Karlei Friend had a 2-for-4 effort with a double and scored twice.

After going scoreless in the first inning, the Lady Chieftains tallied four runs each in the next four frames.

Ary allowed just six hits and one earned run as she recorded two strikeouts and walked only one.

Seminole is scheduled to host Wewoka Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
