Bethel Wildcats sweep twinbill from Riverside
BETHEL ACRES — The Wildcats of Bethel remained undefeated (3-0) Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep of Riverside, 10-7 and 15-3.
In the opener, Bethel outhit Riverside 8-6 and committed six errors (Riverside had one), yet prevailed largely by jumping out to an 8-0 cushion after two innings.
Bethel tallied six runs in the first inning on two singles, a hit batsman, five walks (three with the bases loaded) and Kandon Mitchell’s steal of home. Mitchell also had an RBI single in the frame.
John Gordon and Gunner Smith both doubled as part of 2-for-3 efforts. Also stroking two hits were Carter Monday and Mitchell.
Bethel’s pitching trio of Monday, Gabe Davidson and Jaylon Gordon combined for nine strikeouts and just two walks.
Bethel was the recipient of eight walks
The nightcap took only four innings as Bethel recorded 7-run spots in the first and third innings.
Bethel combined 12 hits with five walks and two Riverside errors.
LW Moore homered and finished with five runs batted in. Monday was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. Mason Konkler had a good game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, run scored and three runs batted in.
Jaylon Gordon also doubled.
The Wildcats, 3-0, will entertain Seminole at 4:30 Thursday.
