Coody, Jenkins shine for North Rock Creek boys' track team
LUTHER – Jordan Coody won the 3,200-meter run and placed second in the 1,600 while Jamarian Jenkins won the 100-meter dash to highlight the North Rock Creek efforts at the Luther Invitational Track Meet on Saturday.
Coody clocked in at 11:36.52 for the top honors in the 3,200 and posted a time of 5:15.19 for the runner-up spot in the 1,600.
Jenkins registered a time of 10.86 seconds to top the field in the 100-meter dash.
In other events, North Rock Creek's 4x400 relay team of Noah McMullan, Rayne Jones, Jenkins and Tate Conner placed third as did McMullan in the 300-meter hurdles in 47.01 seconds.
The Cougars also had a fourth-place finish out of its 4x200 relay team of Jones, Mitchell James, Jenkins and Wyatt Hester.
North Rock Creek also had four fifth-place efforts – Jones in the long jump (17 feet, 10 inches), McMullan in the 100-meter hurdles (18.17 seconds), the 4x100 relay team of McMullan, Jones, Jenkins and James (46.53 seconds) and the 4x800 relay combination of Conner, Coody, Chris Richardson and Colton Burch (10:12.42).
The Lady Cougars recorded one fourth-place finish, four fifth-place efforts and a sixth place.
Tayja Murphy ended up fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:11.15.
Emily Rowell claimed fifth in the discus with a toss of 91 feet, 6 inches and Kylie Auld was sixth in the high jump in 4 feet, 4 inches.
North Rock Creek's three relays took fifth place as well – the 4x100 relay team of Murphy, Auld, Lillian Huynh and Mady Davis (59.91 seconds), 4x200 relay combo of Murphy, Huynh, Jayden Henry and Emily Abbott (2:09.19) and the 4x400 relay of Murphy, Haney, Kacia Wiggins and Katelyn Chaddick (14:20.94).
The next track meet for the Cougars and Lady Cougars will be Thursday at Velma-Alma.
