Shawnee YMCA hosts 13th annual Father Daughter Dance
The Shawnee Family YMCA hosted its 13th annual Father Daughter Dance Saturday, March 7.
According to. Tara Andrews, Shawnee YMCA Director of Human Resources and Finance, the event was for fathers and their daughters in Shawnee and surrounding areas .
This is a very special event that the Shawnee Family YMCA holds each year to encourage and celebrate healthy relationships between daddies or any positive male role model and their little girls," Andrews said.
Andrews explained the event last three hours and their were over 200 people who attended the dance.
"Each year we invite Craig Sutton with Celebrations Entertainment to DJ the dance and he did a wonderful job of keeping everyone out on the dance floor," Andrews said.
Attendees were able to eat a full meal, Andrews said and there was a selfie station provided by Blue Zones Project and professional photographs by Tom Flora Photography.
Andrews said in addition to benefitting fathers and daughters, proceeds from the event go to one of the YMCA's programs.
"This annual event is a fundraiser for our Financial Assistance Program for which we raised over $2,000," Andrews said "The YMCA Financial Assistance Program is yet another way the YMCA fulfills its mission to serve all people. The Y offers quality programs and services designed to benefit people of all incomes, ages, gender and backgrounds"
Andrews said the YMCA will continue to hold events such as the Father Daughter Dance and provide services to the city of Shawnee and its citizens.
