She was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on Sept. 26, 1930, to Alvie and Virginia Bledsoe. She grew up in rural Norman.

The Coats for Kids ministry was near and dear to Norma’s heart as she was prompted to start it after the death of her daughter, Sandy. Each year, Coats for Kids has grown and given out thousands of coats since its inception.

Norma is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Arlice McKiddy, her daughter, Sandy McKiddy, her granddaughter, Lindsay McKiddy and grandson, Benjamin Sparkman.
