Shawnee mayor backs Gov. Stitt's re-open guidelines for Oklahoma

According to the City of Shawnee's official Facebook page, Mayor Richard Finley has made a decision to back Gov. Kevin Stitt's Open Up and Recover Safely (OURS) guidelines.

"Effective immediately, the Mayor has amended the City of Shawnee declaration of an emergency to comply with the Governor’s Open Up and Recover Safely (OURS) guidelines to allow the City, along with the State, to begin the process of reopening," the post reads.Beginning April 24, 2020, personal care businesses such as hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, and pet groomers may begin to reopen by appointment only and following CDC social distancing and disinfection guidelines. In addition, the Shawnee Twin Lakes will reopen, including boating access, for fishing and recreation."The City’s primary focus is for our community to remain healthy and safe through this period of reopening," the post reads. "We continue to strongly encourage social distancing, use of proper personal protection equipment, and disinfection."

In conclusion, the post states, "We want to thank the community for their fantastic efforts so far to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and do their part to flatten the curve."
