10 of the craziest Oklahoma State Fair foods

Canceled by COVID in 2020, the Oklahoma State Fair will be back on Sept. 16 and run until Sept. 26. Hundreds of thousands of people gather at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City to enjoy all types of entertainment.

There's never a shortage of delicious food being served at the fair, but here's a look at 10 of the craziest items scheduled to be available this year.

Bacon-Wrapped Roasted Corn on the Cob

The bacon-wrapped roasted corn on a cob became so popular at the Oklahoma State Fair in 2019 that homemade recipes began spreading online the following spring.

Served by Bacon Habit, sweet local corn is wrapped in bacon and then grilled to a crisp. This fair favorite grew so popular at the 2019 fair that homemade recipes began circulating online for it the next year.   

Loaded Gilty Mac and Cheese

The Gilty Pleasure booth will be serving up creamy, homestyle macaroni and cheese, with extra delights. Pulled pork, diced hot links, grilled jalapeno pepper, and caramelized onions can be added, along with a drizzle of barbecue sauce.

Waffle-Wrapped Snow Ice

It's exactly what it sounds like: a gourmet snow cone encased in a delicious waffle, courtesy of Snow S'More.

Deep Fried Cookie Dough Sundae

This new Deep Fried Cookie Dough Sundae will be offered by The Original Mineapple Pie, winner of the 2019 Fairest of Them All.

A unique combination of hot and cold, this treat will be served by the Fairest of Them All award-winning Original Mineapple Pie shop. Made of homemade cookie dough and ice cream, the deep-fried dessert is expected to be a huge hit at the fair.

Caveman Turkey Leg

The Bacon Habit will also offer a large turkey leg, wrapped and slow-cooked in nearly a pound of bacon.

Cheese Curd Tacos

Cheese curd tacos will be a new dish offered at the 2021 Oklahoma State Fair, from O'Neil's.

O'Neil's has added something new to their booth: cheese curd tacos. This delectable creation puts a unique twist on a favorite dish for many.

Gelato Nachos

Funky Flamingo, a new vendor this year, is bringing a new dessert option. The "nachos" will come with homemade stroopwafel chips, three flavors of gelato, two dessert sauces and three candies of your choice, and a topping of whipped cream.

PB&J Burger

Served by Porky's, the "J" in their "PB&J burger" doesn't stand for jelly. The half-pound burger will come with peanut butter and jalapeno peppers.

Rattlesnake Sausage Corn Dog

Among the most adventurous of the foods served at the fair will be the Pioneer Wagon's new corn dog offering, filled with actual rattlesnake sausage.

Bug Pizza

For years, Swain's Pizza On-A-Stick has offered multiple varieties of Bug Pizza. Toppings include scorpions, crickets and meal worms.

Oklahoma State Fair tickets on sale now

To purchase tickets, visit the Oklahoma State Fair webpage. Armbands are $35 Monday through Thursday and $45 Friday through Sunday. Each armband will have a $1 activation fee.
