Pottawatomie County Commissioners have voted to reopen the Pott. County Courthouse to the public on Monday, June 15.

During Monday’s meeting, District 1 County Commissioner Melissa Dennis said the county will reopen the courthouse, but several social distancing procedures and safety measures will be implemented.

Dennis said signage will remain posted throughout the courthouse informing people to stay six feet apart and practice other social distance measures.

In addition, Dennis said the courthouse will require people and employees to wear masks while they're in the building.

Dennis also said only three people will be allowed to enter county offices at a time and others will have to wait in the lobby of the courthouse with a mask on until a spot is available.

During the meeting, Dennis also said the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office deputies will stop taking peoples' temperatures at the door of the courthouse, but will provide masks to those who need them as they are available.

Finally, Dennis said the commissioners will allow each county judge to continue holding their court proceedings while practicing social distancing as they have been during the closure of the courthouse.
