Two arrested in hit-and-run of 10-year-old bicyclist in Shawnee

Shawnee police said Thursday they have arrest two people in connection with a hit-and-run of a 10-year-old bicyclist.

Shawnee Police Cpl. Vivian Lozano said the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 10, at about 5 p.m.

Officers responded to Highland and Bonita Streets for a hit-and-run report involving a 10-year-old child riding a bicycle.

The suspect vehicle was eventually located, and two suspects were taken into custody.

Lozano said Asa Strong, 27, was arrested on complaints of leaving the scene of an accident with great bodily injury. Shashana Wapskineh, 33, was arrested on a complaint of obstruction. Formal charges have not been filed.

The child was transferred to OU Children’s Hospital for further treatment, Lozano said, and no other details were released.
