Shawnee educator receives HOWL award

Shawnee High School agricultural teacher Dr. Brett Scott was presented with the SHS Honoring Outstanding Wolf Leadership Award.

The award was presented by SPS educator Mary Rolette who said Scott was a prefect recipient of the HOWL Award.

"Dr. Scott possesses a 24/7 on-the-clock dedication. Shawnee FFA gives back to the community and represents Shawnee High School favorably," Rolette said. "They go to the Shawnee Early Childhood Center and read to the students."

Rolette said in addition the Shawnee FFA have a Saturday toy drive in December and donate those toys to The Salvation Army, they have made quilts and presented the quilts to nursing home residents and they participate at fairs, shows, and competitions.

"(Scott) helps the students earn scholarships and provides them with a true role model as an Ag teacher, advisor and good person," Rolette said. "They received National recognition for the first time. He also was the main organizer of SHS CareerTech's career fair last year with over 600 students participating and 20 vendors."
