A house at 415 W. 10th Street caught fire shortly after midnight; investigation is underway.

At about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Shawnee firefighters responded to a structure fire near the corner of Kickapoo and 10th Street.

When crews arrived at 415 W. 10th, there were flames inside and on the backside of a house that appeared vacant, Shawnee Batt. Chief Tom Larman said.

“We did a search, but no one was found inside,” he said.

Larman said his initial estimate of damage to the home could be around 50 percent.

Deputy Fire Marshal James Krywanek was called to investigate the incident.
