News-Star/Patriot Auto Group Car Finalist: Colton Ingmire, Bethel
Bethel High School senior Colton Ingmire, one of the two September finalists, was named the Shawnee News-Star and Patriot Auto Group Student of the Month for 2019-20.
Bethel High School teacher Andrea Depuy said Ingmire is a diligent worker, dedicated and is task-oriented.
“Colton is a commendable example to his peers,” she said, “always encouraging those around him to make good choices.”
Depuy said Ingmire is involved in Bethel's Cross Country and Track teams; he has been awarded varsity letter jacket all three years.
“He is also involved in his church with the youth group and serves on many community service projects through his church,” she said.
He has served in various capacities through organizations such a Student Council, National Honor Society and Prowl-SADD, she said.
“Colton remains engaged with his peers, while also mentoring younger students,” she said.
Bethel High School teacher Brianne Johnson said Ingmire has impressed her with his strong work ethic and a desire to become better at all he does.
“He is able to take feedback and constructive criticism and grow from it,” Johnson said, “always striving to be better.”
Ingmire takes the initiative to discuss things he doesn't understand and to get clarification, she said.
She said he is an active member of FFA, serving as Historian, as well as being on the shooting and judging teams.
Colton is the type of student who serves these roles well and always upholds the 'I believe' tenets of the creed, especially in the aspects of leadership and helping others, Johnson said.
“I highly recommend Colton as Student of the Month,” she said. “His integrity fortitude and humbleness will all serve him well in this position.”
Best of Preps 2019-20
For the third year, Patriot Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Chandler is going to provide a brand new Jeep Renegade for the Patriot Student of the Year to a student from participating high schools in the area.
The Patriot Auto Group is teaming up with The Shawnee News-Star to recognize the area’s best student.
During the school year, two students of the month will be selected by an impartial panel of judges based off nominations from administrators at the school. Those 16 students will be finalists to win the Patriot Student of the Year award and one will drive home in a new car after the May 4, 2020, News-Star fourth annual Best of Preps banquet at FireLake Arena. The remaining 15 students will win scholarships.
Each month administrators at participating area high schools will submit a nomination for a senior who has an excellent grade point average, displays community leadership qualities, is an active volunteer and displays high moral integrity.
Additional sponsors of the program include Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Benchmark Realty, Oklahoma Baptist University, Pioneer Library System, Immanuel Baptist Church Student Ministry and the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
