After serving 15 years at McLoud, Rhett Banks is now Tecumseh's fire chief.

Before becoming Tecumseh’s fire chief, Banks had been employed as the full-time fire chief at the McLoud Fire Department since January 2005. Over the years, he has gained certifications in Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, and EMT Basics.

The Firefighter 1 and 2 training covers basic fire service qualifications, specialized areas and commands that measure the knowledge and skills needed as a firefighter. EMT Basic training is the minimum educational requirement to become an emergency medical technician.

Over the years in fire service, Banks has responded to all types of calls.

“Throughout the years there have been too many memorable moments to just pick one,” said Banks. “The most important thing to me is the camaraderie as a whole and how I am blessed to be able to make partnerships in the community through serving the people.”

Banks started his first day on the job with the Tecumseh Fire Department on Monday, June 8.

“I am excited to continue serving the community by joining the team in Tecumseh “said Banks. “Although there will be differences, because Tecumseh is a larger town than McLoud, I am looking forward to the great opportunities I will have with the fire department in the future.”
