Robert A. Cottrell, 87, of Shawnee, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at his home.

Robert A. Cottrell, 87, of Shawnee, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at his home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1932, to Otis Lee and Ruby (Metcalf) Cottrell in Oklahoma City.

Robert was raised in Shawnee and graduate from Shawnee High School. He lived most of his life in California and recently moved back to Oklahoma.

He married Ruby Alice Skidmore Cottrell, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 2014.

Robert started working in the aerospace industry, and owned and operated Bob’s Motorcycle Repair in Bell California for many years. He later went to work for California United School District where he retired.

Robert was a talented motorcycle mechanic and his greatest passion and hobby was riding motorcycles. He started Norwalk-Centaurs Motorcycle Club in Norwalk, California. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, enjoyed fishing and mowing the yard and was a devoted husband to Ruby Alice.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Cottrell; his parents, Otis and Ruby Cottrell; two siblings, Ossie White and William Cottrell; and son-in-law, Andy Neelands.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathrine Ann Neelands; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Nancy Cottrell and Robert and Emelda Cottrell; grandchildren, Sarah and Brette, Morgan, Mary Jo, Matthew and Kelly, Damien and Shelby, Bobby and Jessica, Chris, Jonathan, Aaron, Peter and Jamie; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Webb; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 6, at Tecumseh Cemetery with Kent Wooster officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
