Meeker boys withstand Chandler fourth-quarter comeback

CHANDLER – The Meeker Bulldogs withstood a fourth-quarter flurry by the host Chandler Lions and came away with a 66-63 victory Tuesday night.

Jake Hilburn and Zack Cook tossed in 14 points each while Cade Patterson added 13 and Kade Brewster finished with 10 for Meeker, which had a 54-37 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. However, Chandler went on a 26-12 run through the fourth quarter to nearly force overtime.

Dylan Mahan poured in 25 points with 11 coming in the fourth period. Caedon Parris tallied 15 points with seven coming in the fourth. Parris also knocked down three 3-point shots. Dalton Alsip tacked on 11 points, including two treys.

Hilburn drained three 3-point shots and Patterson had one for the Bulldogs.

Leading 15-14 at the end of the first quarter, Meeker went on a 25-10 scoring spree in the second while building a 40-24 halftime cushion.

The Bulldogs will face Metro Christian tonight in the opening round of the Henryetta Tournament. Chandler will take on Kiefer at 5:40 p.m. today in the first round of the Ripley Tournament.
