Profitable tournament day for Prague

RIPLEY — It was a profitable Thursday for Prague as the girls and boys registered first-round victories at the Ripley Tournament.

Prague’s girls launched the day with a 56-14 spanking of Ripley’s JV team and Prague’s boys upended Newkirk 59-46.

In the boys’ game, 5-foot, 10-inch sophomore Trip Davis registered three 3-point field goals en route to a game-high 18 points. Colby Smith and Isaiah Bias notched eight points each with Smith collecting two 3-pointers.

Nine Red Devils scored as Prague coach Nate Greer emptied his bench. Prague led 50-32 after three quarters.

Prague, 5-5, moves into today’s 5:40 p.m. semifinals versus Thursday’s Kellyville-Woodland victor.

Girls

Prague 56, Ripley JV 14

Ripley didn’t score until late in the second quarter and trailed 41-2 at halftime.

Coach Benny Burnett of Prague employed 15 players with 10 scoring. Senior Adisyn Auld, the only double-figure scorer with 13, didn’t play in the second half.

Diana Manning added nine points and Taylor Hodges posted eight as Prague improved to 8-2.

Prague was 9-of-13 from the line.

Ripley recorded just one 2-point field goal to go along with four 3-pointers.

The Lady Red Devils advanced to today’s 7 p.m. semifinals against Thursday night’s Woodland-Kiefer winner.
