Tecumseh splits at Shortgrass Classic

ALTUS — A huge free-throw disparity went against Tecumseh’s boys Saturday in a 51-42 loss to Ponca City in the consolation championship of the Clester Harrington Shortgrass Classic Invitational.

Ponca City had 32 free-throw opportunities and hit 17 for 53.1%.

Tecumseh (12-4) was 6 of 10 for 60%.

Ponca City also netted six 3-point field goals to two for Tecumseh. Kainan Ryan and Emet Longhorn posted a trey apiece.

Ryan collected a team-high 11 points. Jacob Green chipped in with nine.

Tecumseh trailed 47-30 after three quarters.

Girls’ Consolation Championship

Tecumseh 54, Star Spencer 29

Junior Katelyn LaFrance recorded 15 points as the Lady Savages finished 2-1 at the tournament.

Tecumseh was up 17 points at halftime in moving to 10-6 on the year.

Both Tecumseh squads will visit North Rock Creek tonight. The Lady Savages and Savages defeated NRC in earlier matchups this year.
