Balanced scoring sparks Savage triumph, 71-52

TECUMSEH — Tecumseh’s boys negated a red-hot shooting effort from Jeremy Rogers with three double-figure scorers Friday night in a 71-52 win over Little Axe.

Rogers had seven successful 3-point field goals en route to a game-high 32 points.

Tecumseh (14-4) countered with double-figure scoring from seniors Jacob Green (22), Kainan Ryan (22) and Emet Longhorn (12).

Green knocked down four shots from beyond the 3-point arc while Ryan was good on two.

Up 33-21 at halftime, Tecumseh really took charge with a 13-0 run out of the third-quarter gate.

Tecumseh hit 5-of-11 free throws in going to 2-0 versus Little Axe this season. Little Axe hit 6-of-12 charity tosses.

The Lady Savages (12-6) prevailed despite hitting just 25% (10-of-40) of its field goals, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range.

Katelyn LaFrance headed Tecumseh’s scoring with eight, followed by Sabryn Grayson and Marissa Gouge with six each. Grayson netted two treys.

Tecumseh canned 9-of-17 charity tosses.

Tecumseh played without two starters. Tawny Billy was injured and Kenzli Warden was sick.

The Lady Savages will entertain McLoud Tuesday night.
