North Rock Creek squads upended by Wellston

WELLSTON — North Rock Creek’s girls jumped out to a 14-7 lead Tuesday but couldn’t hang on and dropped a 60-52 decision to Wellston.

Freshman Kaitlyn Masquas led the Lady Cougars with 16 points, including four treys. She also managed a team-high six steals and shared rebounding honors with Olivia Stacy with 10. Stacy also picked up 10 points, four assists and eight blocked shots.

NRC’s Breanna Pearcy knocked down two 3-point field goals.

North Rock Creek (4-14) led 23-22 at halftime.

Boys

North Rock Creek fell to 8-13 with a 59-43 setback to Wellston.

Sophomore Noah McMullan was NRC’s top scorer with 12, followed by Jamarian Jenkins with 11, including two treys.

Both North Rock Creek squads will play at Jones Friday to conclude the regular season.
