North Rock Creek's Brea Pearcy (22) tries to get around the defense of Dale's Danyn Lang (21) Saturday night at Dale.

DALE – Eleven players got into the scoring act and four reached double figures Saturday night as the Class 2A third-ranked Dale Pirates opened up a 31-0 advantage and drilled the Dibble Demons, 90-23, for a Class 2A district championship.

Earlier, the 2A fifth-ranked Dale Lady Pirates had 14 players reach the scoring column as five players hit the double-digit scoring plateau in 102-40 triumph over the North Rock Creek Lady Cougars.

The Dale boys moved to 19-7 with their victory and the Dale girls improved to 17-8.

The Pirates outscored Dibble 22-0 in the first quarter behind 8-of-12 shooting from the floor (67%). They followed that up with a 9-0 run to start the second quarter as the Demons didn't get on the board until Eddie Cruz splashed in a 3-pointer with 5:19 to go before halftime.

Dibble was 0-of-12 from the field in the opening quarter and was 0-of-14 until getting that first basket.

“It was a team effort...really balanced scoring,” said Dale head coach Jeff Edmonson. “Like it has been all season long, six or seven on any given night, can lead us in scoring.”

Starter Trae Thompson and reserve Kash Vanbrunt each tossed in 16 points to spark the Pirates. Dallen Forsythe, another Dale starter, added 11 points and Carter Crowe, off the bench, ended up with 10 as the Pirates shot 60% for the game and totaled nine 3-point baskets on the night.

Thompson ended up 7-of-8 from the field, with one trey, and Vanbrunt was 8-of-9. Thompson also snatched nine rebounds as Dale dominated the boards by a wide 39-20 margin. Palmer Jones and Crowe added five rebounds each.

Jones also tallied nine points and Brady Johnson chipped in eight for the Pirates.

Defensively, Dale forced 17 Demon turnovers and racked up 14 steals with Vanbrunt collecting three while Johnson, Jones, Crowe and Connor Kuykendall had two apiece.

David Poras was the high scorer for Dibble with eight.

Elaine Witt tallied 15 points, Mackenzie Gill and Faith Wright had 13 each, Emilia Idleman scored 12 off the bench and Danyn Lang chipped in 10 as the Lady Pirates rolled.

Dale led 27-12 by the end of the first quarter and cruised on to a 53-19 halftime cushion. The Lady Pirates limited North Rock Creek to seven second-quarter points, including just two field goals.

Jayden Haney paced the Lady Cougars with 17 points while Kate Masquas and Macy Buoy ended up with eight each.

Obviously it was a game of big runs for Dale. The first massive spurt was a 17-6 scoring blitz by the Lady Pirates in the final 3:38 of the opening quarter. Gill scored six points off a trey and an old-fashioned 3-point play. Witt and Wright also accounted for two buckets each during that span. Witt's first basket also led to a conventional 3-point play.

Both Dale teams play Thursday night in a Class 2A regional at Dale. The North Rock Creek girls play at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
