Seminole girls lose to end campaign

BETHANY — Seminole’s squads were on the losing end of games against Bethany Thursday at a Class 4A regional.

Seminole’s girls saw their season concluded with a 49-34 decision while Seminole’s boys fell into the losers’ bracket with a 58- 40 decision.

For the Seminole boys, Easton Wurtz was the only double-figure scorer with 14, including two 3-pointers.

Bethany was up just 25-23 at halftime but took control with an 18-7 third-quarter advantage.

Brenden Burns led Bethany with 27 points.

Seminole hit just 6-of-13 free throws.

The Chieftains (14-9) will square off against Tulsa McLain tonight at 8 at Perkins in an elimination game.

Girls

Bethany 49, Seminole 34

A disastrous first quarter was too much for Seminole to overcome.

Bethany outscored Seminole 16-2 in the first eight minutes, compiling two 3-pointers and five 2-pointers, the latter all off offensive rebounds.

“They just killed us on follow shots,” said Seminole coach Charles Kemp.

Bethany led 25-12 at the half and 43-24 after three quarters as Seminole concluded its season at 10-14.

Holli Ladd topped Seminole’s scoring with 10 and Katyanna Andrews posted nine, including one 3-pointer.

Bethany hit 8-of-9 free throws for 88.8%. Seminole was 6 of 10 for 60%.

Lauren Scalite canned three of Bethany’s five 3-point field goals on the way to 19 points.

Seminole loses just one senior, Makayla Harge, who tallied four points.
