Sister Cities: 35 years later
In 1987 due to TDK coming to Shawnee, our late Mayor Pierre F. Tarron, Jr. sought to establish a Sister Cities relationship with Nikaho, Japan; the location of one of the early TDK factories and birthplace of TDK’s first president, Mr. Saito Kenzo.

OBU honors Distinguished Alumni during Harvest Dinner
Oklahoma Baptist University recognized outstanding alumni with special awards during its annual Harvest Dinner on October 24, 2025. The event was held during The Weekend, the University’s annual homecoming celebration, on the OBU campus in Shawnee.
